HCS/Outlaw Collective Video Rules:
(by the way, I just made these up)
----No Fisheye for any trick (at least ones that are filmed by us).
----Always try to capture the trick as honestly as possible.
----People riding/skating always choose their own music...no restrictions.
----No outside footage. Only use shit that we've filmed (I know this one's been broken).
----Having a section/trick in the video is not dependent on how good you are.
----If possible, the person whose section it is makes the choices on the editing.
Background
Derek and Andy Nelson have put out a number of videos over the past 6 or 7
years. In fact, it'd be seven years because it's been 7 videos. All the videos were
created and edited using only a camera, two VCRs, a stereo, a TV, some cords, and endless
amounts of sitting in front of the TV with sore and blood-filled eyes. Each video represents a
year of the hardship, progression, frustration, and triumph of the group of friends surrounding
these two kids. The first 4 videos were put together simply as a sort of collective
gift from each person in the video to the other people in the video. Since each one of the
kids in the group inspires and drives every other kid in the group, Andy decided that a video
would be a perfect way to keep that alive, keep the inspiration strong, and to drive everyone
to skate more and harder every successive year. After the first 4 videos, The Outlaw Collective
and HCS can onto the scene and exerted their influence in the videos as well. The videos
didn't change much (if at all) because of this because it was the same kids that had been doing
it all along...just now they had a name and a place to go. The group of friends has changed over the
years, but the videos have always been the same thing: a representation of the kinds of things
that were going on that year. So basically this is a summary/description/commentary of each
video. They're written by the kid who edited every single video...so you know that the comments
are accurate 'cause that little pussy has been there from the mothafuckin' beginning. My legs
are sore from skating so I need to take a break from typing and go thrash some more. Read up
or shut up.
